Race Chronicles #7

2018 Americana 5k

A great way to celebrate July 4th is to start off the morning with a 5k race with over 1000 other runners. This was my first time running the Americana 5k. I signed up because my daughter wanted to run.

Packet Pick Up was at Up and Running on July 2nd or July 3rd. I was eating dinner the night before the race when suddenly I remembered we needed to pick up our packets. Fortunately it is only a three minute drive to the store, and we got our shirts and bibs with just minutes to spare.

The race started at 7:30 at Centerville High School. We arrived by 6:45am before the road closures.

This is an out and back run starting at the school and finishing with a loop around the Centerville Track.

I finished 24:12 which was 214 over all and 7th in my Age Group. My daughter Jaina finished in 26:25.

Although we didn’t win we stayed for the awards, and ended up each receiving one of the random door prizes including samples of a UCan Cinnamon snack bar, UCan hydrate, and UCan Simple starch.

After the race my daughter took a few pictures of me. Then I took my kids to the festival and we literally walked another 5k.

We used the Chipotle coupons, that we received with registration, the next night for dinner.
