Run Like A Mother 1 mile & 5K
May 12, 2019

Run Like a Mother is part of a national race event held on Mother’s Day in seven cities across the country. This was the second year this race has been hosted in Dayton.
The Dayton RLAM race was held on Sunday May 12th at Island Metro Park.

The morning started at 8:45 with the Kids 1 mile fun run, which I ran with my six year old daughter. We finished approximately 1 mile (0.94 according to Garmin) in 10:51. I cannot think of a better way to Celebrate Mother’s Day than running together.

Four minutes later I lined up for the 5K. I finished the race 3rd overall, and Masters Winner, in 23:46.

Finishers received a rose and Run Like a Mother medal.

Arriving at the finish line in third place and with a new 5K race PR and seeing my two daughters cheering me in was the best gift ever.
Finishing right behind me was my fellow 5Rivers teammate Lindsey, who has been a huge inspiration to me. She kept me motivated to finish strong as I could hear her right behind me. The 5 Rivers team takes 3rd and 4th Place overall.
There were awards for the top 3 finishers. I received a pair of Goodr Sungrasses for finishing in 3rd place
